I know it's a bold statement - but it really does seem like I've stumbled upon what seems to be the perfect video editing application.

(When I say "perfect" - I mean that it's fit for purpose - it doesn't have all the 'bells and whistles' of some of the high-end production sofware you can buy - but I think it's perfect for educators!)

Anyway, I've spent hours testing various pieces of conversion software - then importing into Windows Movie Maker - only to find a whole range of problems and repeated crashes when I save and re-open a project.

I've been testing this software all day - and I have only crashed it once! (when I changed WMV export settings to obscure values!). It seems to import everything I throw at it - and it can output in a range of formats.

Apart from it's great functionality and simplicity - it's really, really cheap - almost  too cheap that I dismissed it as inferior.

It's called AVS Video Editor and it retails for $39.00

You can download a fully function trial or buy it online.

You can even buy a bundle of the editor with a set of excellent conversion tools.
